Groupon is a massive spammer without optin and optout

July 19 2011, 17:24pm

Posted by adrien

2 days ago I received this welcome email from Groupon on my professional email address whereas I have never signed up with them.

Groupon is a massive spammer without optin and optout

So it means anyone can sign up with your email on Groupon and Groupon is not asking for any confirmation from the email address to check if the sign up is from the owner... First #fail.

In the afternoon following this email I have started receiving some Groupon offers like this one and of course I clicked the unsubscribe link. But I keep receiving these emails every day on my professional email... Very annoying and very spammy!

Groupon is allowing anyone to sign up with your email and then Groupon is spamming you and don't take in account your optout. It doesn't work on purpose I guess... Second #fail

Bing + support Japan with $1 tweet donation #fail

March 15 2011, 17:59pm

Posted by adrien

Bing (Microsoft) has launched this tweet that says:

For each retweet @Bing will give $1 to Japan quake victims up to $100K. More ways to #SupportJapan

support-japan-bing-tweet.png

So basically Bing is using the Japan earth quake to get some social media coverage instead of giving away the $100,000.

They promised to give $1 per RT which is already the media value of a tweet... So basically they are not offering anything to support Japan but the people who RT are. It's just a really bad advertsiing strategy that aims to benefit from this disaster to get some coverage...

It was so badly received on twitter that Bing decided to stop this sad social media campaign and pay directly the $100k.

Groupon ad banners invasion WTF

February 24 2011, 16:41pm

Posted by adrien

Groupon is invading all the websites and blogs I am visiting. I am tired of seeing their banner ads everywhere I go.

They try to target myself and retarget but I won't click guys, you're just wasting impressions and building a negative feeling against you! It seems Google Adsense is making a lot of money with Groupon ;-)

Are you seeing them everywhere too? Or is that my cookies only? I am definitely not interested in your services and get the fact that the winner takes all in your business and you need to get as many sign ups in the early stages to kill your competitors but please don't over expose your brand!

BDDP Unlimited Spam les blogueurs

February 22 2011, 13:50pm

Posted by adrien

As you can see below on this Islamic website there are 2 ad banners to promote holidays in Israel, one on top and one on the side bar...

Not sure it's targetting the right audience!
